Fall Salmon and Steelhead Fishing in the Great Lakes Tributaries

Did you know that Fall isn’t just the season for leaf peeping and Pumpkin Pie, but it’s also a great time for Salmon and Steelhead fishing in the Great Lakes tributaries? Now through December, Salmon and Steelhead Season is in full swing and we’ve put together a list of must-haves to help you get out on the water and catch that record breaker!
- Fishing Licenses are required by Law to fish, but rules and regulations vary by State. Check with local State authorities for licensing requirements.
- St. Croix Avid® Salmon & Steelhead Spinning Rods
- Fishing line
- Size 8, 10, 12 Bait Hook or Salmon Egg Hook
- Assorted sized weights (split shot)
- Small bobbers (for fishing still water)
- Small clippers (for clipping fishing line)
- Fishing forceps (for removing fish from the hook)
- Bait (salmon eggs, mealworms, garden worms, power bait, etc.)
- Small lures (Minnows, spinners, spoons, etc.)
- Polarized sunglasses (to see fish underwater and protect eyes from the Sun and flying hooks)
- A stringer or creel (to keep your catch)
- Tackle box, Tackle bag or vest (storage for hooks, line, lures, etc.)
