Winter is right around the corner, and before you know it Jack Frost will be nipping at your nose. We’d like to share our Family Layering Guide with you to help you stay out longer, while keeping Jack Frost at bay, whether you’re hitting the slopes or building a snowman!

Socks

Believe it or not, heat escapes from your feet! You will want to keep those tootsies toasty and dry when out in the elements this Winter.

  1. Wigwam Men’s Canada Boot Sock: With heavyweight cushioning and a reinforced sole, this wool sock is a must have.
  2. Turtle Fur Women’s Hiker Boot Lectra Sock: Keep your feet warm without the swampiness! With battery-heated technology, these socks are a girl’s best friend!
  3. Wigwam Kid’s Snow Yeti Ski Sock: Soft, cushy and adorable…just like a real Yeti. This will easily be your child’s favorite pair of socks!

Base Layers

Think of this as a foundation for your warmth. The base layer will manage moisture and provide a light layer of insulation.

  1. Patagonia Men’s Capilene® Midweight Crew: When paired with the Patagonia Men’s Capilene® Midweight Bottoms, this will become your Swiss Army knife of base layers. Extremely comfortable and treated with Polygiene® permanent odor control.
  2. SmartWool Women’s Merino 250 Base Layer Pattern Bottom: Look good underneath it all this Winter! Plus, you’ll stay warm even in the coldest conditions, especially when paired with the SmartWool Women's Merino 250 Base Layer 1/4 Zip.
  3. Polarmax Youth Double Base Layer Crew: Combined with the Polarmax Youth Double Base Layer Pant, this is the perfect and most popular collection to keep your little ones warm, no matter the outdoor adventure they are on!
  4. Patagonia Men’s Capilene® Thermal Weight Bottoms: Stay warm, even on freezing nights in a sleeping bag when you pair with the Patagonia Men’s Capilene® Thermal Weight Crew.
  5. Kuhl Women’s Alva Thermal Shirt: Soft, stylish, and perfect for any outdoor excursion! For extra warmth, combine with the Patagonia Women's Capilene® Thermal Weight Zip-Neck Hoody.

Outerwear

This is your outermost layer of protection from whatever Winter throws your way. Think of it like the exterior of a house…you want it to be waterproof, breathable, and block anything from getting in.

  1. The North Face Men’s Gotham Jacket III: Waterproof, 100% Windproof, adjustable hood, and 550 fill goose down. This jacket has your back against the elements! Pair with the Sherpa Jumla Hat and Outdoor Research’s Men’s Gripper Convertible Gloves to keep cold out.
  2. Kuhl Women’s Dani Sherpa Trench Jacket: Italian wool, suede, fleece, and cashmere…need we say more! For maximum warm and style, combine with the Starling Women’s Fox Hat and Gordini Ombre Striped Gloves.
  3. Columbia Girl's Katelyn Crest™ Jacket and Columbia Boy’s Tree Time Puffer Jacket: Real deal protection to keep your little ones insulated from the cold! Pair with Hats and Gloves to ensure complete protection.

So, as you can see, the different layers of protection build upon each other to encase you in warmth when facing Jack Frost. It’s important to think about everything that could be exposed from head to toe, one cold spot left exposed to the elements could make for a miserable outdoor experience.
