Outdoor Activities to Quell Cabin Fever and Welcome Spring

This Winter, it’s been cold, and a lot of snow has already fallen with no break in sight! Chances are you have been daydreaming of the Spring, when it’s warm and you can enjoy the great outdoors. Put those dreams to good use and quell that cabin fever at the same time learning about a new outdoor activity that you can begin once the weather warms up! We’ve put together a list of our favorites to help get you started.

  1. Hiking: Hiking offers more than just a change of scenery. It is also a great low-impact workout offering multiple benefits, such as reducing hypertension and anxiety. However, if you think it is as simple as walking on a paved path, you may be in for a surprise! Learn to avoid injury and enjoy your trek with this basic guide.
  2. Fishing: Learning how to fish can be fun and rewarding. Herbert Hoover once said, “When all the routines and details and the human bores get on our nerves, we just yearn to go away from here to somewhere else.   4. Kayaking: Have you wanted to go kayaking, but thought it was too grueling or required a certain expertise? Actually, you can work as little or as hard as you like, you decide! On a trip of leisure in your kayak, you can burn up to 350 calories per hour. Plus, you’ll also be toning your arms, back, upper body, and core muscles. It’s a win, win all around and with this basic guide you’ll be out on the water in no time!
  5. Climbing: This is one activity you could start now! The first step is to locate and start climbing at an indoor climbing gym and by the time Spring rolls around you’ll be ready to try your hand at outdoor climbing. Check out this basic guide to help get you started.
